What can you study here?
- Information on courses
- Only undergraduate (Bachelor’s level) courses are available for exchange students. Master’s students can also participate in undergraduate courses if the courses can be recognised for their degree.
- At least 50% of the course load must be chosen from one faculty with the remaining credits from other faculties.
- Courses in Cantonese and Mandarin can be completed alongside other courses, but exchange students cannot study only Chinese.
- HKU highly recommends that exchange students consider enrolling in Common Core (CC) courses. These interdisciplinary courses cover a wide range of global and local topics. Students may take up to two CC courses from a selective menu, with each course chosen from a different Area of Inquiry: 'Scientific and Technological Literacy', 'Humanities', 'Global Issues' and 'China: Culture, State and Society'. They are an excellent way for students to earn credits while exploring subjects outside their primary major, and they often provide more flexible enrollment opportunities.
How many credits do you need to complete?
Minimum 24 local credits per term.
1 University of Hong Kong credit = 1 ECTS.
